Getting to know Meilen
Moving company Meilen: four districts, one district capital
Meilen is the capital of the district of the same name and is linked directly to Horgen on the opposite shore by the Lake Zurich ferry. The place is first mentioned around 880 as «Meilana». On 1193 hectares lived 14,207 people (as of 2018), around 16 km as the crow flies from our base in Wallisellen.
Feldmeilen, Dorfmeilen, Obermeilen, Bergmeilen
Three districts lie on the lakeshore, one further up the slope. Between Meilen and Obermeilen the Beugenbachtobel ravine cuts through the municipality; since 2012 a 60-metre suspension bridge has crossed it, the first of its kind in the canton. That is handy for pedestrians, but a removal van still has to take the detour by road.

At the former Obermeilen boat landing, today's Dollikon lido, the Ländeli service is held every year. Steep roads up the Pfannenstiel

- The Pfannenstielstrasse climbs even more steeply via Bergmeilen to the Hochwacht.
- From Feldmeilen the Bünishoferstrasse leads towards the Herrenweg ridge road.

Train, boat and neighbouring municipalities
Meilen station is served by the S6, S7 and S20 S-Bahn lines, plus Herrliberg-Feldmeilen station within the municipality. If you commute during the week, you can put your moving day on a Saturday; with us there is no surcharge for that.
