Baar is more than the centre north of the town of Zug. The extensive municipal area includes the settlements of Allenwinden, Blickensdorf and Inwil, the hamlet of Deinikon and numerous isolated farms. Even the name, first recorded as Barra in 1045, goes back to the Celtic settlement on the Baarburg, the local hill to the north-east. From the valley floor up the Zugerberg
