Avoiding stress
A move is an exceptional situation for animals
Strangers, open doors, furniture disappearing: for dogs and cats, moving day is stressful. A clear sequence avoids a lot of stress – a retreat room is cleared last, and at the new home we set up your pet's area first.
We do not transport animals; they travel with you. Instead, we dismantle and reassemble scratching posts, enclosures and dog crates and make sure that doors are not left open unnoticed.
- Retreat room: cleared last, kept closed.
- Pet area first: we set this up first at the new home.
- Pet accessories: scratching posts, enclosures, crates dismantled and reassembled.
- Change of address for your dog: in the canton of Zurich via the municipality (AMICUS).

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about moving with pets
Do I have to change my dog's address?
In the canton of Zurich, you report the change of address to the municipality, which manages the owner data in the AMICUS dog database. You report the handing over, taking over or death of a dog directly to AMICUS.
Are there any obligations if I move to the canton of Zurich with a dog?
Yes. According to the canton of Zurich, dog owners moving in with a dog must generally complete the cantonal dog training courses. You can find details on the canton's website.
Do you also transport animals?
No, animals travel with you. We take care of the furniture and pet accessories and reassemble scratching posts and enclosures at the new home.
What do I do with my cat on moving day?
A quiet, closed room with food, water and litter tray, which we clear last, has proven effective – or a day with friends. We plan the sequence accordingly.
What does a move with pets cost?
The normal guide prices apply, e.g. 3–3.5 rooms from CHF 990.–, including insurance, excluding VAT.
