What is different about moving abroad
Moving abroad is more than just a long transport. Switzerland is not in the EU: your household goods cross a customs border. For export, Swiss customs only require an inventory list with your addresses in Switzerland and abroad; the destination country has its own rules for the duty-free import of household removal goods.
In many EU countries, the requirements are similar: residence outside the EU for at least 12 months, use of the items for at least 6 months and import within 12 months. You will find the exact requirements for each country on the country pages – each with a link to the responsible authority.

I was very satisfied with the moving services and the cleaning work. The furniture was properly packed and handled with care. The subsequent cleaning was also carried out professionally, so the handover went through without any issues. What's more, all the staff were extremely friendly. I can only recommend the company.

Are household removal goods duty-free in the EU?
