Dense suburbs on the edge of Basel, small towns such as Liestal and Laufen, villages on the Jura slopes: your move in Basel-Landschaft follows eight coordinated stages.
Whether you are moving from Zurich, from Basel-Stadt or within the canton: after the free survey, on site or by video, you receive the quote within 24 hours.
We assign both addresses to their part of the canton, because in the Birseck the stopping point and lift matter, whereas in the Oberbaselbiet it is more about the gradient and length of the access road.
For public land, we submit the application to your municipality, particularly early in Allschwil or Muttenz; the municipality charges the fee directly to you.
About two to three weeks in advance, we bring free moving boxes and packing material so that you can empty your cellar, attic and cupboards at your own pace.
We line the lift cars in the blocks of Pratteln or Reinach, and in older farmhouses in the Jura we protect thresholds, wooden stairs and floors.
We reach the Ergolz valley via the motorway and the Laufental by driving up the Birs valley; on steep Jura slopes, a furniture lift shortens the carrying distance if needed.
Our own carpenters reassemble beds, wardrobes and workstations, and every labelled box is placed in the right room.
If you have booked the final cleaning, we attend the handover and touch up free of charge; afterwards we collect the empty boxes in the Baselbiet and invoice according to the quote.
Baselbiet stretches from the suburban municipalities around Basel to rural valleys in the Jura. Access roads and routes vary accordingly – during the survey we clarify how best to get the removal van to your door.
In Baselbiet you report your move to the municipal administration within 14 days – also online via eUmzugCH. Changes to your driving licence must be reported to the motor vehicle office within 14 days.
In the canton of Basel-Landschaft, 14 days apply for both the municipality and the driving licence.

In the suburban municipalities on the edge of Basel, such as Allschwil, Binningen or Muttenz, the stopping point and the number of floors matter most. In the Jura valleys of the Oberbaselbiet, longer access roads are added, and there are more than 900 metres of altitude between the mouth of the Birs and the Hinteri Egg. We charge for the actual working time, including the outward and return journey. You can see the guide price in the calculator above; a cost ceiling is available on request.

Basel-Landschaft comprises the agglomeration around Basel and the rural Baselbiet in the Jura up to the Hauenstein. Its capital is Liestal, and the canton is divided into 5 districts.

| Amtssprache | Deutsch |
| Population Canton of Basel-Landschaft | 303'037 (Stand 30. September 2025) |
| Area Canton of Basel-Landschaft | 518 km² |

| Nachbarkantone | Basel-Stadt, Solothurn, Aargau, Jura |
| Neighbouring countries | Germany, France |
| Our headquarters | Wallisellen ZH |
Basel-Landschaft stretches from the suburban municipalities around Basel to large areas of forest and hills in the Jura valleys. Between the lowest point, where the Birs flows into the Rhine (246 m), and the Hinteri Egg (1168 m), there is a difference in altitude of more than 900 metres. For removals in Basel-Landschaft, whether the new address lies in the Unterbaselbiet (lower part of the canton) or the Oberbaselbiet (upper part) is therefore often more important than the municipal boundary.
The Unterbaselbiet includes the Laufental along the Birs, the Birseck and the lower Leimental, while the Oberbaselbiet comprises the municipalities along the Ergolz and its tributaries. Because the Schwarzbubenland, which belongs to Solothurn, lies in between, the canton has an irregular shape. Its border runs through several suburbs of the city of Basel and touches both Germany and France.
The cantonal capital Liestal has fewer inhabitants than each of the five largest municipalities, Allschwil, Binningen, Reinach, Muttenz and Pratteln, all of which lie on the edge of Basel. There, blocks of flats and dense neighbourhoods are the rule, whereas the Jura valleys have villages with longer access roads. We clarify the right vehicle size and carrying route for every address during the survey.
The Baselbiet lies on two main transport corridors. The Basel–Laufen–Delémont railway line runs through the Unterbaselbiet towards Biel/Bienne and Porrentruy. The Oberbaselbiet sits on the major north–south axis from Germany towards the Gotthard and Lötschberg; this is where the A2 motorway and the transit railway line run. InterCity and InterRegio trains leave Liestal for destinations all over Switzerland.
This is practical for a move from Zurich to the Baselbiet: if the destination lies on the corridor through the Ergolz valley, it is easy to reach with the removal van. On request, we schedule moving day on a Saturday at no Saturday surcharge.
The canton was founded in 1833 when the rural municipalities split from the city of Basel; attempts to reunite with Basel-Stadt failed in 1936, 1969 and 2014. The Laufental only moved from the canton of Bern to Basel-Landschaft on 1 January 1994, following a popular vote. In the south-west, the border with the canton of Jura largely follows the German–French language border; the municipalities on the language border are Roggenburg and Liesberg.
The official language is German. Close to the city, the dialect is largely the same as Basel German, while High Alemannic dialects are spoken in the Oberbaselbiet and the Laufental. To the south, the canton borders Solothurn, and to the east Aargau.
Together with Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft funds the University of Basel. The main campus of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland is in Muttenz, and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute is in Allschwil. Well-known companies from the Baselbiet include Endress+Hauser, Ricola, Weleda and Clariant. For companies and institutes, our removal company offers:
As of 30 September 2025, 303,037 people lived in the canton. At 585 inhabitants per square kilometre, the population density is more than two and a half times the Swiss average. For moves between the suburban municipalities, we therefore clarify early on where the removal van can stop.
Who applies for parking spaces when moving from Basel-Stadt to Binningen or Allschwil?
We submit both applications: in Basel to the office responsible there, and in Binningen or Allschwil to the municipality. Because the neighbourhoods merge seamlessly, we use the address to check exactly which side of the cantonal border it is on. Your Baselbiet municipality is stored in the customer portal so that deregistration and registration reach the right offices.
How do you move from Liesberg or Roggenburg across the language border to the canton of Jura?
Logistically, like any move to a neighbouring area; administratively, it is a change to a French-speaking canton. We reserve the stopping point at the destination with the Jura municipality and plan the route through the Birs valley. In the customer portal, you enter the new municipality so that the checklist shows the offices in the canton of Jura.
What matters when moving to the Waldenburg valley towards the Oberer Hauenstein pass?
The gradient and bends of the pass road, as well as the access roads in the villages. We survey the destination address in advance, choose the vehicle based on the narrowest point and allow enough time for the drive up the valley. In older houses, we pad wooden stairs and thresholds, and heavy items are carried by several people together.
When should I measure my furniture before moving to the Baselbiet?
As soon as you have the floor plan of the new flat, ideally before the survey. Measure the sofa, wardrobes and bed as well as door widths and alcoves at the new place. That way we know early on which furniture needs to be dismantled and whether everything will fit into the rooms.
What applies when moving from the Laufental to Sissach if Solothurn territory lies in between?
You stay in the same canton, even if the journey passes through the Schwarzbubenland, which belongs to Solothurn, or via the city of Basel. The same cantonal registration offices apply, so there is no change of canton. We plan the route according to traffic and reserve the stopping points with your previous and your new Baselbiet municipality.
What happens if something is damaged during a move within Basel-Landschaft?
Your household goods are protected by our insurance, which is included in the price. Ideally, report any damage to the team on moving day itself so that it can be recorded immediately. To prevent it from coming to that, we pad furniture and protect floors and the stairwell.
Which household appliances do I need to prepare for a move to Liestal or the Leimental?
Above all the fridge, freezer and washing machine. Empty and defrost cooling appliances the day before so that no water leaks out, and fit the transport bolts on the washing machine if you have them. Small appliances are best packed in their original packaging or well padded in boxes.
Large municipalities on the edge of Basel, small-town centres around Liestal and Laufen, plus villages in the Jura valleys: in Basel-Landschaft, planning the vehicle and stopping point depends on which part of the canton you live in.
Each of these five municipalities on the periphery of Basel has more inhabitants than the cantonal capital Liestal. In their dense neighbourhoods with blocks of flats, we record the lift car and stairwell and fix the stopping point for the removal van in advance.
The A2 and the transit railway line run along the Ergolz. For destinations in this valley, the journey from Wallisellen is via the motorway; from the exit onwards, we allow for the small-town streets around the cantonal capital.
Together with its surroundings, Laufen forms the canton's second small-town centre, served by the Basel–Laufen–Delémont railway line. For moves to the Birs valley, we clarify during the survey how close the removal van can get to the entrance.
In the south, the canton extends to large areas of forest and hills. For villages there, we choose the vehicle size based on the access road and, where the distance from the parking spot to the front door is longer, plan for a furniture lift or extra time.
Whether in Allschwil or in a village in the Oberbaselbiet: we apply to the responsible office in your Baselbiet municipality to reserve public land for the removal van. The authority charges the fee directly to you.
We load bulky items and old furniture separately on moving day and dispose of them properly for CHF 65.– per m³. Glass, paper or batteries in household quantities are accepted by your municipality's collection point in Basel-Landschaft.
Endress+Hauser, Novartis, Ricola, Weleda and Clariant are among the well-known companies in the Baselbiet, along with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland in Muttenz and the Tropical Institute in Allschwil. We relocate laboratories and offices outside business hours.
