Access with the removal van
Utrecht zero-emission zone: what applies to the removal van
Since 1 January 2025, a zero-emission zone for vans and lorries has applied in Utrecht; it will be extended from 2030. Vans of classes Euro 0 to 4 have no access, Euro 5 until 1 January 2027 and Euro 6 until 1 January 2028; from 1 January 2029 all vans must be emission-free. Euro 6 lorries may enter until 2028 or 2030 depending on first registration; from 1 January 2030 all lorries must be emission-free. (Source: utrecht.nl)
Since 1 July 2026, the Vrachtwagenheffing has applied in the Netherlands – a distance-based toll for Dutch and foreign lorries of classes N2 and N3 with a technically permissible maximum mass of more than 3,500 kg. Registering in Utrecht after your move
Anyone moving to the Netherlands must register in the BRP personal records database with the municipality within 5 days of arrival and will receive a citizen service number (BSN). (Source: government.nl) Within 5 days of your move, book an appointment to register at the Stadskantoor, Stadsplateau 1, 3521 AZ Utrecht. Don't forget: before leaving, deregister with your Swiss municipality of residence and set up mail forwarding to Utrecht in good time.
