What the customer portal takes care of during your move in Switzerland
- Notify your insurers: Household contents, liability, health insurance: the portal prepares ready-made letters with your new address and links directly to 23 Swiss insurers – you only add your policy number and the date.
- Set up mail forwarding: So that no bill goes to your old address: the checklist reminds you in good time before moving day and takes you by direct link to the change of address with mail forwarding.
- Register your departure: Deregister with your current Gemeinde (municipality), in many municipalities online via eUmzugCH (online change of address): the portal schedules the task to match your moving date and links to the right office.
- Register your arrival: Registration in your new municipality is usually due within 14 days. The portal calculates the deadline from your moving date and reminds you by e-mail before it expires.

I was very satisfied with the moving services and the cleaning work. The furniture was properly packed and handled with care. Who attends the flat handover when Swiss Umzüge does the end-of-tenancy cleaning?
Our cleaning team itself. It accompanies the inspection with the property management, and if anything is criticised, we touch it up immediately and free of charge. That is the core of our handover guarantee: the flat is handed back on the agreed date without you having to organise a second cleaning appointment.
How does an office move in Switzerland work without bringing business to a standstill?
We move outside your business hours, for example on a Saturday, and relocate IT and laboratories as separate sub-projects. We pack files and archives in an orderly way as an archive move, so that everything can be found straight away at the new location and your team can carry on working the next working day.
Where can I store my furniture if there are a few weeks between moving out and moving in in Zurich?
In our furniture storage facility: dry, climate-controlled and alarm-protected. We collect the furniture when you move out, store it for as long as needed and bring it to your new address when you move in, with assembly by our own carpenters on request. Storage is charged per cubic metre and month.
When do you deliver moving boxes for a move in Switzerland?
Usually two to three weeks before the date, together with the necessary packing material. That leaves enough time to clear out wardrobes, cellar and attic at your own pace. After the move we collect the empty boxes again; whether there are charges for delivery or collection is stated in your quote.
What does Swiss Umzüge handle when moving from Switzerland abroad?
Besides packing, transport and furniture assembly, the complete customs clearance: we declare the export to Swiss customs and handle the import in the destination country. It is based on an inventory list that we draw up with you; end-of-tenancy cleaning of your Swiss flat can be booked at the same time.
Why is a cost ceiling worthwhile for larger moves in Switzerland?
Because it tells you in advance the maximum amount you will pay, even if moving day takes longer than planned. On request, we agree a cost ceiling or a flat rate after the free on-site survey instead of charging purely by working time.
What is the solution if a sofa or wardrobe won't fit through the stairwell?
A furniture lift. We check the stairwell, doors and lift during the survey and use the furniture lift where needed to raise large items over the balcony or through a window. This protects both the stairwell and your furniture, and you can already see the cost in the quote.
