What is different about moving abroad
Moving abroad is more than just a long transport. Switzerland is not in the EU: your household goods cross a customs border. For export, Swiss customs only require an inventory list with your addresses in Switzerland and abroad; the destination country has its own rules for the duty-free import of household removal goods.
In many EU countries, the requirements are similar: residence outside the EU for at least 12 months, use of the items for at least 6 months and import within 12 months. You will find the exact requirements for each country on the country pages – each with a link to the responsible authority.

I was very satisfied with the moving services and the cleaning work. The furniture was properly packed and handled with care. Who handles customs when moving from Switzerland abroad?
We take care of it completely. We handle customs clearance on export from Switzerland as well as on import into the destination country. You give us the necessary details and documents, we prepare the declaration and accompany your household goods across the border to your new address.
How does furniture arrive undamaged on an international move, and who reassembles it?
Furniture is wrapped in blankets, glass and china are wrapped piece by piece, and everything is secured with straps in the vehicle. At the destination abroad we place each item in the right room, and our own carpenters put wardrobes, beds and tables back together there.
Where can I get boxes and packing materials for moving abroad?
Directly from us: we deliver free moving boxes and packing materials to your home in Switzerland two to three weeks before the moving date. That way you can pack at your own pace and label the boxes by room straight away, which makes it easier to draw up the inventory list for customs.
When is the best time to request a quote for an international move?
As soon as your move-out date is fixed. A move abroad needs more planning than a move within Switzerland: a survey, an inventory list, checking the import rules, deregistering with the Gemeinde (municipality) and coordinating with the date in the destination country. With enough lead time, every step can be done without time pressure.
What can be fixed in the quote for an international removal?
After the free survey you can choose a flat rate, meaning a fixed amount for the agreed scope, or a cost ceiling, where we charge by time and effort but never more than the agreed limit. Either way, you know your costs before your household goods leave Switzerland.
What are the benefits of the handover guarantee if I travel abroad right after the move?
Our cleaning team attends the handover of your Swiss flat and fixes any points raised by the property management immediately and free of charge. The handover is therefore completed in a single appointment, and you do not have to come back from abroad for a follow-up clean.
