Getting to know Würenlos
Moving company Würenlos: removals between the Furttal and the Limmat
The Romans already quarried shell limestone in Würenlos and made millstones from it; grooves and circular hollows can still be seen in the old quarry today. The place name recalls this too: Wirchilleozha means «at the land allotment of the workmen». The village lies at the lower end of the flat Furttal valley, right on the border with the canton of Zurich, and had exactly 7,046 inhabitants at the end of 2025. The distance from our base in Wallisellen to Würenlos is around 18 km as the crow flies.
Flat valley, steep slope
To the north the village is bounded by the high ground of the Gmeumeriwald (516 m above sea level), to the east by the Bick, which at 562 m is the highest point of the municipality. To the south, by contrast, the terrain drops steeply to the Limmat, where the Furtbach flows through a deeply cut gorge. Vines grow on 4.9 hectares of this southern slope.

Kempfhof, Oetlikon and Kloster Fahr

On 15 October 1877 the Nationalbahn opened its line from Wettingen to Winterthur.
