Getting to know Rothrist
Moving company Rothrist: a row of districts between the Aare and the forest
Until 1890, the municipality was officially called Niederwil. The Aargau cantonal parliament renamed it so that it would no longer be confused with Niederwil in the Bremgarten district. Today Rothrist has 9,979 residents (as of 31 December 2025) and lies around 55 km from our base in Wallisellen as the crow flies. For a moving company in Rothrist the exact address matters, because the municipality consists of many districts that only grew together in the second half of the 20th century.
North and south of the railway
Between the railway line and the Aare lies Dietiwart with an extensive industrial zone. South of the tracks, from west to east, come Oberwil, Niederwil (also called Dörfli), Sennhof, Rothrist (also called Dorf or Rössli), Fleckenhausen and Hölzli. Somewhat further out lie the hamlets of Gfill and Gländ in the Pfaffnerental and Säget in the Wiggertal.

The southernmost third of the municipal area is covered by the Langholzwald, part of the largest continuous forest in Aargau. There the terrain rises gently to the Räckholderhubel (501 m above sea level). In the far north-east, the Pfaffneren and the Wigger flow into the Aare less than 200 metres apart; this is the lowest point at 395 m above sea level. Steep slopes are therefore rare in Rothrist; distances and access roads within the neighbourhoods matter more.
History in the townscape
The Reformed church in Niederwil was built in 1714/15 in the Baroque style, and the neo-Romanesque tower was added in 1900. On Bachweg in the centre, the local museum in the 18th-century half-timbered «Miescherheimet» house shows life in a village shaped by farming and cottage industry, as well as the great emigration to America in 1855. With the Aarburg–Herzogenbuchsee railway line, numerous industrial firms arrived from 1857 onwards.

Oberwil, Dörfli and Sennhof south of the railway
West of the centre, Oberwil, Niederwil with its Baroque church and Sennhof adjoin one another. In these long-established residential areas, we check whether the neighbourhood street offers enough space for the removal van or whether a stopping place has to be reserved.
Gfill, Gländ and Säget in the side valleys
These small hamlets are scattered across the Pfaffnerental and the Wiggertal. For houses there we check road width and turning space before the date, so there is no need to transfer the load to a smaller vehicle on moving day.
