Getting to know Oberglatt
Moving company Oberglatt: living between the Glatt and the airport
Oberglatt has grown strongly in recent decades. For a long time the village was small: in 1850 it had 750 residents, and in 1900 only 676. In 1950, 1,232 people lived here, by 1980 already 3,988, and on 31 December 2025 exactly 7,741. The decisive factors were the proximity to the city of Zurich, the Zurich–Bülach railway line and the construction of Zurich-Kloten Airport. From 1948 the airport was built on a former Glatt marshland between Kloten and Oberglatt. A station since 1865 and short distances
Oberglatt station opened on 1 May 1865. A few decades earlier the village had already changed: to straighten the Glatt, the canton had the Oberglatt mill demolished in 1817, and the new canal was finished in 1830. Oberglatt is first mentioned in writing in 1153, and the Reformed church on Kirchrain is a protected building. The municipality covers 8.25 km².
