Access with the removal van
Amsterdam zero-emission zone: what applies to the removal van
Since 1 January 2025, a zero-emission zone (Nul-emissiezone) for commercial vehicles has applied in Amsterdam: vans up to Euro 4 have no access, Euro 5 until 1 January 2027, Euro 6 until 1 January 2028 (an extension to 1 January 2029 is planned for vehicles registered before 2025). Since 1 July 2026, the Vrachtwagenheffing has applied in the Netherlands – a distance-based toll for Dutch and foreign lorries of classes N2 and N3 with a technically permissible maximum mass of more than 3,500 kg. After moving in
After the move: registering in Amsterdam
Anyone moving to the Netherlands must register in the BRP personal records database with the municipality within 5 days of arrival and will receive a citizen service number (BSN). (Source: government.nl) In Amsterdam, registration takes place in person at a Stadskantoor of the Gemeente, and only with a pre-booked appointment. The deadline is 5 days from arrival; you receive your BSN upon registration. Highly skilled migrants can alternatively book the appointment with IN Amsterdam. Don't forget: before moving away, deregister with your Swiss municipality of residence and arrange mail forwarding to Amsterdam in good time.
