Getting to know Wartau

On the prominent Ochsenberg, formerly the St. Martinsberg, stands Wartau Castle, built around 1225. It is the landmark and namesake of the municipality, which lies at the foot of the Gonzen and the Alvier massif and is partly bounded by the Rhine. As early as 1872 a bridge replaced the former Rhine ferry. Trübbach station is no longer in operation; public transport in the municipality is provided by Bus Sarganserland Werdenberg and LIEmobil.
