Later, Wettingen Abbey shaped the village.
In 1799, the French under Masséna crossed the Limmat here, which is why the name Dietikon appears on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The remains of the «Festung Dietikon» (Dietikon fortress) date from the Second World War, including two longer sections of wall in the middle of town.
