To occupy the street you need the «Permís d'ocupació de l'espai públic per fer una mudança» from the Ajuntament de Barcelona, applied for via the Oficina Virtual. Before applying, the fee (taxa OVP) must be calculated and paid by self-assessment. Type A moves and so-called «mudances assabentades» are exempt. ZBE Rondes de Barcelona: access rules
The ZBE Rondes de Barcelona applies Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; at night, at weekends and on public holidays access is unrestricted. Banned vehicles include petrol vans below Euro 3 (before 2000), diesel vans below Euro 4 (before 2005/2006) and lorries below Euro 4. (Source: totbarcelona.cat)
The traffic authority DGT restricts the movement of goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight on certain days and at certain times. This rule applies nationwide except in Catalonia, the Basque Country and Navarre, which have their own traffic powers. (Source: dgt.es)

Registering in Barcelona after your move
In Barcelona, registration is called «Alta al Padró municipal d'habitants» and is handled via the Ajuntament's Portal de tràmits. Adults identify themselves with a residence card, passport or identity document from their country of origin; the proof of address required depends on whether you rent or own. Don't forget: before you leave, deregister with your Swiss municipality of residence and set up mail forwarding to Barcelona in good time.
Less volume, lower costs
Bulky items: dispose of them in Switzerland before the move or in Barcelona?
