Getting to know Neckertal
Moving company Neckertal: five former municipalities on the Necker
Five fir trees beneath a sun, with the Necker flowing below: the municipality's coat of arms tells its story. Each fir stands for one of the original municipalities of St. Peterzell, Brunnadern, Mogelsberg, Oberhelfenschwil and Hemberg. Anyone moving house here is therefore dealing with a municipality of many village centres and widely spread addresses.
Grown in two stages
In the late Middle Ages the area belonged to the County of Toggenburg and passed to the Prince-Abbey of St. Gallen in 1468. Until 2002 Brunnadern and St. Peterzell lay in the Neutoggenburg district, whereas Mogelsberg was in the Untertoggenburg.
On 1 January 2009 Brunnadern, Mogelsberg and St. Peterzell merged. The merger also brought smaller places into the new municipality, including:
- Wald-Schönengrund, previously part of St. Peterzell
- Nassen, Necker and Hoffeld, previously part of Mogelsberg
- Ebersol and Dicken, also from the former municipality of Mogelsberg
Before the second expansion, Neckertal had 4035 inhabitants (as of 2018). Since 1 January 2023 Oberhelfenschwil and Hemberg have also been part of it. As a moving company in Neckertal we therefore always ask for the exact village, because some of the distances between the villages are quite long.
