At almost 19 km², Möhlin is the fifth-largest municipality by area in the canton of Aargau. Obermöhlin, Untermöhlin and Riburg have grown completely together and stretch for three and a half kilometres along the Möhlinbach stream. The Möhliner Feld and its edges
Most of the municipal area consists of the Möhliner Feld, a massive terminal moraine from the Riss glaciation. Erosion turned it into a raised, wide plain regarded as the "granary" of the Fricktal. Near Obermöhlin the Möhlintal valley cuts into it, and at its edges the plain drops by up to 50 metres. To the south it merges into the Sonnenberg, at 636 metres above sea level the highest point; the Fricktaler Höhenweg trail runs over its summit.
